Road Trippers - Day 1

Houston to New Orleans

When you suggest to Robin that we should use this trip as a teaching opportunity for the kids, she takes such a suggestion seriously.

Putting together binders for the kids with state-themed worksheets and coloring pages. 

"Look like you're excited to go on a ROAD TRIP!"
3 Moms, 7 Kids, 2 Grandmas.

  • 9:45am Departure
  • 9:46am Stop for Mimi to double check her packing
  • 9:47am Back on the road

Robin also made an awesome playlist of music for each leg of our trip.


  • 10:45am First potty stop at single-toilet rest stop (initiated by Ellie, used by many)
  • 11:00am Back on the road
  • 11:01am Radio and DVD player no longer work
  • 12:00pm Stop to clean up Lily puke
  • 12:01pm Abby informs us her seatbelt has been unbuckled since the potty stop
  • 12:15pm Back on the road

  • 4:00pm DVD player falls off the ceiling of the van

  • 5:45pm Took a wrong turn on a 26 mile bridge (The Causeway, the longest bridge in the USA)
  • 5:55pm Happily discovered the bridge has a turnaround spot
  • 6:20pm Arrived at the Bernard house in New Orleans.
