Chattanooga to Bristol

ROCK CITY

We spent the night in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The next morning we drove for five minutes and ended up on Lookout Mountain, Georgia (I didn't realize we were in Georgia until after lunch).   Rock City is a park for families with great scenic walkways and fairytale "enchanted" caves.

On a clear day, you can see seven states from the top of Lookout Mountain.

The kids enjoyed naming the states they had been through over the last few days.

Isaac was so excited to find a "crack your own geode" stand.

Momma bird and baby birds.

This little path was called "Fat Man's Squeeze."

"Rainbow Tunnel." 7 kids. 7 colors.

Abby was apprehensive of the darker tunnels.

(Isaac is either wielding a light saber or a wizard wand.)

Ellie bought both birthday girls a bracelet and ring at the gift shop.

INCLINE RAILWAY

Then we went to the Incline Railway.

The kids enjoyed the cute track walkway.

The Incline Railway is the steepest passenger train in the world.

Isaac liked it.

But, he was also a little white-knuckled on the way up and the way down.

 And he never let go.

Nana, sitting below him, got a better view of his experience.

And Abby, of course, takes it all with a smile.

At the top, we discovered a fudge shop.

The moms and grandma's forgot about the 7 children while they spent 10 minutes picking out their fudge.

Then the kids noticed the fudge counter too.

And, of course, Nana obliged their sweet tooth.

BRISTOL, TENNESSEE

I might have found my new favorite town.  The weather is so comfortable and we're actually in the mountains.  The trees are lush and beautiful.  The house we're staying in has a large, open yard with a treehouse and a trampoline.   But best of all, they have fireflies.  It's like the perfect American town.

Fireflies.

Sadly, I could not figure out how to catch a picture of a firefly so that you could see the glow.  It is magical to see them dancing through the trees.

Then Ellie let them go.

Our wild kids.

Now to see about bedtime.
