The Year of the Dog

Last year was the Year of the Turtle in our house.  As the year wound down, we decided it was time for the turtles to get a bigger home so we planned to release them in the lake.  We used nail polish to paint their initial on their shell so that we might have a chance of recognizing them (my friend Jen did this and actually saw her turtle again...not that we will, but at least this gives us a chance).

R for Rosebud and W for Wiggle.

Isaac looks sad here, and he was sad, but he was also ready to do this.

And they're off!  Turtles don't have much loyalty and they had no problem diving right in.

Part of the incentive for releasing the turtles was that we decided to adopt Boppa's dog Daisy, and that she would be Isaac's dog.  He was so excited about it that he made a daily check list for how he would care for her.  I love that it includes "pet your dog like you mean it" and "pet your dog every once in a wail (while)." This is just so sweet.  Of course, he's never once followed it, but it's a cute checklist nonetheless.

Daisy has been a great addition to our family and a wonderful companion for Isaac.

Abby made her a crown and Isaac made her a super cape.

Lots of snuggles.

And sleeping together.

It's a great match.
