RODEO Day!

Our good friends gave us free tickets to the Houston Rodeo, so at the last minute, we packed up and headed over for an evening of fun.

We started in the butterfly house.

Abby was very excited to get to hold a butterfly (just like a princess).

Isaac was scared at first.  The rules say "don't touch the butterfly wings" and there were several butterflies on the ground with sad, torn-up wings, so he was terrified of hurting one if he held it.

I coaxed him into it and in the end, he enjoyed it (and no harm to his butterfly too).

Fluttering like butterflies.

My favorite exhibit of all time for the kids is this interactive farm experience.
Feeding the chickens...

...who then give our farmers an egg.

Planting a seed, which gives the farmer a pretend veggie to harvest.

They collected corn, veggies, eggs, wool, milk, and peaches.
They took a break to ride the tractor.

Then they "sell" their farm fresh goods for a pretend dollar, which they use at the "store" to purchase a real treat that they get to take with them.  Too cool.

Pony rides!

Petting zoo.

Running through every row of the empty stadium seating.

And our souvenir pictures.
Abby got cold feet once she got up there.

Isaac hammed it up.

Thank you, Jennifer and Mark, for the fun day.  We made it out of there with only $25 invested in the butterfly exhibit and pony rides.  Not bad for a rodeo day!

Looks like a fun day, and doesn't look crowded at all from the pics. Is THAT what the rodeo is like when you don't go on the bargain day in the middle of spring break??
