We met the Lolas and Lolos at Viejas, a Native American reservation that has a resort area and casino.
Lunch with the Lolas and Lolos.
Then, while the grownups shopped and played cards, we took the kids on a hike in Julian.
There were spider webs along the way...
And they all had these tunnel-shaped bases, going into the ground...later did some research and they probably belong to funnel web spiders, creepy, but neat.
We brought Lana along with our kids. She is the daughter of one of Adel's cousins.
It was hot and the kids did a great job on the hike...
So we rewarded them with refreshments at the soda fountain in Julian.
Root beer float, ice cream cones, and for me, an old-fashioned vanilla coke.
...Oh, and I also snagged a caramel apple at the candy shop...my favorite Julian treat!
That night we met the Lolas and Lolos for dinner and the kids demonstrated how to eat the candy soda bottles they bought in Julian.
Lolo had a try.
And Lola Lou too.
And they all decided to embarrass Adel one more time with a "Happy Birthday" song.
We love our California family and had a great trip!

Great pictures! Looks like such a fun trip. Love the smiles on the kids faces in every picture (except Jungle Cruise!).
