Happy 6th Birthday Isaac!

Isaac was so celebrated this year for his sixth birthday!

First, his Mimi and Aunt Lindsay surprised him with an ice cream party in Old Town Spring.

The birthday boy got to have a fancy dipped cone.

Aunt Lindsay made Rice Krispie Treats (because he doesn't like cake)...

...and because she wanted something to stick the candles in.

Then he got presents, cards, and his favorite: money for a trip to the Lego store this weekend!

On his actual birthday, we celebrated all day long.

We made Isaac's signature Rice Krispie Treats topped, by request, with chocolate Lego men.

We started out the day with a birthday donut.

Daddy and I brought him Subway for lunch at school.

And then walked back to the classroom to have birthday treats with his classmates.

Isaac's table mates.

While Isaac finished up at school, Adel and I got the splash pool ready and loaded up some water balloons.
Abby helped by filling the pool and stuffing her swimsuit full of balloons.

Then we waited for Isaac to come home from school.
This idea was half mommy creativity and half mommy guilt.  Isaac had been asking me all summer long to do water balloons and I kept putting him off.

So I decided his birthday, now that summer is over, was a good time to do the long-delayed activity.

We invited his best buddy Connor over after school for some more treats.

And the water balloon surprise.

Isaac (being the chicken that he is) quickly made a rule that you could only throw balloons at the fence.  Not your typical water balloon fight, but fun was had by all.

We finished up the night with his requested dinner of tortilla soup (Nana, you'll be so happy to know this is your recipe.  It is so non-characteristic of him since all the ingredients are mixed together, but of all the choices in the world...I left it completely open-ended...he chose this soup.  He LOVES it and can't get enough).

Isaac chose not to have a birthday party this year in favor of a weekend trip to the Legoland Discovery Center in Dallas.  The blog post will come soon thereafter.

Who needs a party?? Looks like a great day...and more to come. The girls and I remembered it was his birthday at around 10am, and determined we would call him and sing to him after he got home from school. Oops, you know how that went! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC!!!!
