California Vacation 2015...San Diego

Miguel's Cheese Crisp Special (it's no longer on the menu, but you can still order it).  Yummy!

We went with Allen, Marisa, and Kenshin so the San Diego Zoo.  We especially wanted to see animals we don't have at the Houston Zoo.

Pandas!

Gorillas!  This is a mommy carrying her baby on her back.  We actually just got gorillas at the Houston Zoo but we haven't gone to see them yet.

Koalas!

Well, the backs of koalas, anyway.

Every night in San Diego, we would end up with the family at Auntie Myr's house, playing cards and watching TV.  Uncle Efren played chess with Isaac one night.

Isaac loved playing Pares Pares with the Lolas (grandmas) every night.

We went to the 85C Bakery where the kids tried their first boba drinks and we sampled pastries.

The gambling grandmas from both sides of the family.

On our most adventurous day, we went to the Anza Borrego Dessert to try an "Indiana Jones"-like hike through a small canyon.

It was 109 degrees in the sun so we headed quickly to the shade (which in the dry climate does make a difference!.

The canyon gets narrower and taller as you go along.

The "bridge."

It was fun an adventurous, but still pretty hot so we turned around to head back after a short walk.

And then enjoyed some refreshments in Julian as a reward for our hot adventure.

Another day, we toured the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier museum.

View from the Midway of the Coronado bridge.

The kids earned their pilot wings by completing a packet during the tour.

Afterward, we drove across the Coronado bridge to spent some time at the beach.

On another day, we visited the new (to us) Petco Park and watched a Padres game.

I was sad to hear that Tony Gwynn had died from cancer a year previous.

The stadium has a grassy hill where families can sit and the kids can play and watch.

Tired kids all tuckered out.

But always ready for more cards with the Lolas.

We love our California family!

Glad to finally see the rest of your vacation. Looks like fun. That hike in the Anzo Borrego desert looks pretty fun, but hot. Might have to check it out. And Miguels. Yum.
