November Beach Day

Thanksgiving week in Houston....perfect beach weather.  Our young cousin, Jaclyn is in town and we offered to take her to the beach (she doesn't get much of it in Colorado so our beach here, as much as we dis it, definitely counts).

First, some cousin dress up time.

At the beach, we found a perfect spot, where someone had left us a mountain with a moat and a big hole.  Jaclyn quickly turned the mountain into a volcano.

Everybody helped bury Jaclyn's feet.

We found this little guy (6") washed up on the beach when we first arrived.

If we had known what it was, we would not have let the kids swim!  Ah, well, no one was hurt and all is well (thank You, Lord!).  Wikipedia has a description and other pics for those interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Man_o%27_War

Little Trekkie

The boy has been a wee little obsessed with Star Trek since about a week before Halloween (thus the costume choice of this year).

He's been playing Star Trek Monopoly by himself every day.  He plays 2 players and has finished to the bitter end at least two full games.

Daddy showed him the episodes about the Borg and he designed his own Borg ship.

I'm definitely outnumbered by Trekkies now.

Bummin' Around

The past few weekends, we have had so much fun just hanging about the house and doing things as a family.  Just wanted to capture some of the simple moments.

Killing me with Kindness

My husband, lately turned baker, is killing me softly with baking.

First he decided he had waited long enough for a good pan de sal (Filipino bread roll).  So he found a good recipe and whipped up some dough.

Little baker Abby helping Daddy.

He turned out a yummy batch.

Which he then perfected with a second recipe a few days later.

After mastering pan de sal, he decided to master the cinnamon roll.

I wish I could tell you they really weren't that good.
But they were.

I was going to take a picture of mine before I ate it.
Oops.

The baker-man is giving my workout a run for the money.  Mmmmm...
